Los Angeles County Issues Bacteria Warnings for Multiple Southern California Beaches
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued ocean‑water advisories for several beaches after tests showed bacterial levels exceeding state health standards. Affected sites include Will Rogers State Beach (Bel Air Bay Club storm drain), Dan Blocker County Beach (Solstice Creek), Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey, Inner Cabrillo Beach, Topanga County Beach (Castlerock storm drain), Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu, and the area around the Santa Monica Pier.
Officials warn swimmers, surfers and anyone entering the water of an increased risk of illness and urge the public to avoid contact with the water until further testing confirms safety. The advisories come as Southern California experiences a heatwave, with inland temperatures projected above 100 °F and coastal highs in the 80s‑90s.
Beachgoers are advised to monitor local health updates and seek alternative recreation options while water quality is reassessed.
