Los Angeles police arrest dozens in 6th Street Bridge minibike takeover

Los Angeles police, supported by the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, intercepted a planned minibike takeover on the 6th Street Bridge on Sunday. Acting on intelligence regarding the gathering, officers boxed in a group of more than 70 individuals, many of whom were minors, to prevent dangerous maneuvers such as doughnuts, wheelies, and riding on the wrong side of the roadway.

The operation resulted in approximately 78 misdemeanor arrests and citations for illegally operating bikes on city streets. Authorities impounded 78 minibikes and pocket bikes, which are expected to be held for at least 48 hours. Additionally, two vehicles were impounded for 30 days for allegedly aiding and abetting the participants by helping to conceal items for minors.

No injuries were reported during the incident. The crackdown follows recent enforcement actions in the Harbor Gateway area and comes as the Los Angeles City Council seeks additional tools to combat street takeovers.
