Los Angeles Rams release kicker Harrison Mevis

The Los Angeles Rams have released kicker Harrison Mevis following a Monday night overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills. The decision came after Mevis missed two field goals during the game, including a 48-yard attempt that was blocked by Gregory Rousseau.

Rams head coach Sean McVay stated that he believed the blocked field goal would have missed regardless, noting that the trajectory did not appear to be aligned. Following Mevis' departure, the team has named Blake Grupe as the new kicker. Special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone highlighted Grupe’s range and explosive ability as key assets for the team.

In the wake of the roster change, Kelly Stafford, wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, posted a message on Instagram regarding the missed kicks, suggesting that God had a different plan for the outcome of the game.
