Los Mapaches, a Tren de Aragua faction, uncovered in Osorno, Chile after kidnapping probe

Five Venezuelan nationals were placed in preventive detention in Osorno after prosecutors linked them to the criminal group known as Los Mapaches, a faction of the Tren de Aragua. The suspects face charges of kidnapping, drug trafficking, illegal weapons possession, assault and robbery.

Investigators from the Public Prosecutor's Office and the PDI’s anti‑narcotics brigade seized more than 169 g of cocaine base, additional cocaine, cannabis, MDMA tablets, two pistols, ammunition, magazines and a vehicle during a raid on a property on route CH‑215 that was used as a drug‑storage and distribution hub. The case marks the first confirmed presence of Los Mapaches in the Los Lagos region, with prosecutor María Angélica de Miguel noting the group’s potential to replace detained members quickly.
