Los Ríos Region allocates funds for healthcare and infrastructure projects
The Los Ríos Regional Government has approved several funding increases to improve healthcare and public infrastructure in the region.
The Regional Council unanimously approved an additional 53,665,616 pesos for the Río Bueno Hospital. This investment is dedicated to acquiring equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of digestive cancer, a critical initiative given that the regional stomach cancer mortality rate is 30.5% higher than the national average.
In Mariquina, more than 99 million pesos will be allocated to conservation works at the Santa Elisa Hospital. This brings the total investment for the facility to 1,095 million pesos. The works, managed by the Los Ríos Health Service, include improving ambulance access, renovating the morgue entrance, and upgrading various facility structures to ensure dignified conditions for patients and staff while a new hospital project progresses.
Additionally, the municipality of Mariquina is among the first to receive transfers from the Chile Despega Plan. Approximately 342,472,202 pesos will fund a multipurpose room and locker rooms for the El Copihue Petanque Club, as well as improvements to the Belisario García–Fernando Manns green areas.
