Lotte Wellfood's new snack sells out initial stock in one month
Lotte Wellfood has reported that its new snack, ‘Kkokkalcorn Ssamjang Pork Belly flavor’, has exhausted its initial stock within just one month of its late July release. The company had originally prepared inventory intended to last for three months, but has already sold 210,000 bags.
The rapid sales have led to stock shortages at some large discount stores. In response to the high demand, Lotte Wellfood is currently operating its Kkokkalcorn production lines at maximum capacity to stabilize supply.
The product's success is attributed to its alignment with the ‘yajang’ (outdoor dining) trend popular among consumers in their 20s and 30s. By combining the flavors of grilled pork belly and ssamjang (a traditional Korean dipping sauce), the snack has gained traction on social media, where users share unique ways to eat it. Marketing efforts, including a brand campaign featuring actor Oh Jung-se and offline pop-up events, have also contributed to the product's popularity.
