Loulé, Portugal experiences 2.7‑magnitude earthquake with no damage reported

On 25 July 2026 at 07:52 local time, a magnitude 2.7 earthquake was felt in the municipality of Loulé, Faro district, Portugal. The Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA) said the epicentre was about 14 km west‑northwest of Loulé and that the quake registered intensity II on the Modified Mercalli scale, a very weak shaking felt by people in high‑rise or favorably positioned buildings.

IPMA confirmed the event caused no personal injuries or material damage.

The quake is classified as a very small (2.0‑2.9) event on the Richter scale, well below thresholds that typically generate damage.
