Louvre's Apollo Gallery Reopens Nine Months After Major Jewel Heist

The Galerie d'Apollon at the Louvre Museum in Paris has reopened to the public nine months after the October 2025 robbery that stole eight priceless 19th‑century pieces, including Empress Eugénie's crown. New director Christophe Leribault has kept the remaining jewels locked in a high‑security vault, displaying only Empress Eugénie's tiara in a more secure location. The historic baroque gallery now functions as originally intended – a 17th‑century state reception room – with no jewels on view.

The heist, notable for the thieves’ use of a cherry‑picker freight lift, captured global attention. The reopening marks the first visitor access to the space since the theft and underscores ongoing security upgrades at the world‑renowned museum.
