Low Danube levels expose car and mammoth fossils near Szob, Hungary
A severe drop in the Danube's water level near the town of Szob, Hungary, revealed the body of an abandoned automobile that had been missing for 13 years. Firefighters and rescue divers retrieved the vehicle from the riverbed and handed it over to police. During the effort, divers also returned dozens of fish that had become trapped in the shallow water.
In the same low‑water stretch, a local resident uncovered prehistoric mammoth remains, including a lower jaw, two tusks and a fragment of bone. The finds were reported to the regional historical museum for further study, highlighting the Danube basin's ancient ecological history.
