LPG industries move bottling outside Kathmandu to prevent gas shortages

Gas industries have begun bottling Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders outside the Kathmandu Valley to prevent shortages caused by a road collapse at Krishnabhir along the Prithvi Highway. Following permission from the Nepal Oil Corporation, companies are using alternate routes to transport filled cylinders into the capital.

To manage the supply chain, empty cylinders are being transported from Kathmandu to plants in areas such as Parasi, Hetauda, Gaidakot, and Chitwan for refilling. The Nepal LPG Gas Industry Association is coordinating with truck operators to facilitate this movement. While Kathmandu typically consumes 40,000 cylinders daily, demand has surged to as much as 100,000 cylinders due to current circumstances.

Nepal Gas is currently utilizing the Nepal Gas Gandaki plant in Chitwan, aiming to deliver between 8,000 and 10,000 cylinders to the Valley daily in the coming days. Officials expect the supply situation to normalize within a few days as organized transportation arrangements are finalized.
