LPG prices in India remain stable amid rural commercial discounts

Domestic LPG cylinder prices in India remain stable for the third consecutive month as of September 22, 2026. In Delhi, the price for a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder is 942 rupees, while the 19 kg commercial cylinder is priced at 2,747.50 rupees.

In certain rural areas, particularly in parts of Uttar Pradesh like Kushinagar, commercial 19 kg cylinders are reportedly being sold by some agencies at rates between 2,400 and 2,700 rupees, which is 200 to 600 rupees below the official government price. This discrepancy is attributed to low demand from commercial users like hotels and restaurants in rural sectors, leading agencies to offer discounts to manage stock.

Additionally, following improvements in supply, the booking interval for domestic cylinders in rural areas has been reduced from 45 days to 25 days. This change, implemented by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), aligns rural booking rules with those already in place for urban areas.
