BNI and LPS launch financial literacy programs for Indonesian students

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) is expanding its 'BNI Sahabat Sekolah Rakyat' program to 172 schools to enhance financial literacy among students. The initiative focuses on teaching practical banking habits, such as using savings accounts and bank books, to help students manage finances from an early age.

In South Sulawesi, the program has seen active participation at Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi (SRT) 3. Students and educators reported high enthusiasm for hands-on learning involving scanned ID cards and bank account management. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf noted that such collaborations between the private sector and the state are vital for social welfare and poverty alleviation.

Simultaneously, the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has launched the 'Pelajar Sulsel Menabung' (PSM) program. This initiative targets 1,000 high school students across 20 schools in Makassar, Gowa, and Maros to instill a structured savings culture. The LPS program is being implemented through collaboration with the OJK, Bank Indonesia, and local government authorities.
