LPS community initiatives in South Sulawesi

The Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Regional Office III has implemented several community-focused initiatives in South Sulawesi.

To commemorate its 21st anniversary, the institution conducted the ‘LPS Peduli’ roadshow, which provided free health services and blood donation drives across Parepare, Pinrang, Enrekang, Luwu, and Palopo. The program resulted in 580 free health check-ups and the collection of 175 bags of blood.

Following these health initiatives, LPS launched the ‘Pelajar Sulsel Menabung’ (PSM) program. This financial literacy project targets 1,000 high school students in Makassar, Gowa, and Maros to promote saving habits. The program involves a collaborative effort with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Bank Indonesia, and local government, utilizing a Training of Trainers (ToT) model for 100 school instructors.

Recent developments confirm the PSM program is being implemented across 20 schools in the Makassar, Gowa, and Maros regions to instill a structured savings culture. This effort coincides with broader financial literacy movements in the area, such as the ‘BNI Sahabat Sekolah Rakyat’ program, which aims to teach practical banking habits to students.
