Brazil municipalities hold Agosto Lilás events to combat violence against women
Various municipalities in Brazil are conducting activities as part of the ‘Agosto Lilás’ campaign to combat violence against women and promote awareness of protection networks.
In Três Lagoas, a seminar was held at the City Council to present the social protection network for women. The event included participation from local authorities and youth representatives, focusing on the importance of reporting violence and the responsibility of society to protect women.
In Anastácio, a march titled ‘Agosto Lilás – For Peace at Home and the End of Femicide’ brought together different generations. The mobilization, organized by the local Judiciary and Municipal Administration, emphasized that the Maria da Penha Law protects women of all ages, including the elderly.
In Diamantino, the ‘Strong Women, Safe Women’ project provided training in modules such as digital security, emotional intelligence, and self-defense. The initiative aimed to help women identify various forms of violence and understand how to access local support services.
