Lucas do Rio Verde Sets Record Ideb Score in 2025

The municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde in Mato Grosso recorded its highest ever score on Brazil's Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) for the early years of elementary school in 2025, reaching an average of 6.9. The result surpasses the 6.7 achieved in 2023 and places the city ahead of the national municipal average (6.1) and the state average (6.3), ranking sixth among the 17 municipalities in the Sinop Regional Education Directorate.

Four local schools were listed among the state's top municipal schools, and the city’s secondary‑grade score was 5.2, earning the fifth‑best rating among Mato Grosso municipalities for the later years of elementary education. Mayor Miguel Vaz celebrated the achievement, calling it a “birthday present” and expressing confidence that the municipality can continue to improve.

The Ideb figures were released by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (Inep).
