Lucas Museum grants free admission to South Los Angeles residents ahead of September opening

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art announced a free‑admission program for residents of the 90037 ZIP code surrounding Exposition Park in South Los Angeles. Eligible locals will receive passes that allow them and one guest to reserve free entry when registration opens in August. The museum also scheduled a Community Preview Day on Sept 13, giving residents, community partners, business owners and civic leaders a chance to tour the facility before it opens to the public on Sept 22.

Co‑founded by filmmaker George Lucas and business executive Mellody Hobson, the 300,000‑square‑foot museum in Exposition Park was designed by architect Ma Yansong and includes an 11‑acre park. Its inaugural exhibitions will feature over 1,200 artworks, ranging from prehistoric cave paintings to contemporary “Star Wars in Motion” displays, as well as works by Jack Kirby, Alison Bechdel, Diego Rivera and others.
