Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opens in Los Angeles

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art has officially opened in Los Angeles’s Exposition Park. Co-founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the $1 billion campus spans 11 acres and features a 300,000-square-foot building designed by Ma Yansong of MAD with Stantec.

The museum aims to explore the emotional power of narrative art and the evolution of visual storytelling. It includes two state-of-the-art theaters, the Robert Flaherty Theater and the Slavko Vorkapich Theater, which offer immersive film experiences ranging from silent movies to animation and documentaries.

After more than a decade of development, the facility provides a dynamic space for audiences to encounter cinema as a living art form. The inaugural programming includes documentary series and explorations of the creative processes that shape modern culture.
