Lucas Museum of Narrative Art to open in Los Angeles

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is scheduled to open to the public on September 22 in Los Angeles. Located on an 11-acre campus in Exposition Park, the five-story, 300,000-square-foot facility was designed by architect Ma Yansong of MAD.

Co-founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum aims to explore storytelling through images, ranging from ancient sculptures and Renaissance paintings to comics, photography, and cinematic artifacts. The permanent collection includes over 40,000 works, with inaugural exhibitions featuring pieces by artists such as Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Norman Rockwell, and Beatrix Potter.

In addition to fine art, the museum will house the Lucas Archives, containing models, concept art, costumes, and props from the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. The campus features 35 galleries, two theaters, a library, and landscaped gardens designed by Studio-MLA.
