Lucas Museum of Narrative Art to open in Los Angeles this September

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is scheduled to officially open on September 22 in Exposition Park, Los Angeles. Co-founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum features a 300,000-square-foot building designed by architect Ma Yansong.

The inaugural exhibitions will display over 1,200 artworks across approximately 100,000 square feet of gallery space. Themes include comic and graphic storytelling, Japanese manga, and a cinema section titled ‘Star Wars in Motion,’ which will showcase original production art, costumes, and vehicles from the first six films.

In conjunction with the opening, the museum has partnered with publisher TASCHEN to release a multi-format publication exploring visual storytelling through various media, including painting, photography, and illustration. The books will feature contributions from George Lucas and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.
