Lucasfilm and Marvel announce Star Wars crossover comic

Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics have announced ‘Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles’, the first-ever in-universe crossover between the two franchises. Scheduled for release in January 2027, the five-issue comic series is written by Kevin Smith with art by David Marquez.

The crossover event is part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the original Star Wars film. The narrative involves a reality-shattering spell that allows the heroes of the Marvel Universe to witness the events of ‘A New Hope’ unfolding on Earth. The story features alliances between iconic characters, including the Avengers and Spider-Man teaming up with Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, while Doctor Doom aligns with Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire.

In addition to the comic series, the franchise's 50th anniversary will include a Welsh redub of the 1977 film premiering on Christmas Day and the launch of ‘Star Wars: The Experience – A Journey Through the Galaxy’, a behind-the-scenes exhibition, in February 2027.
