Lucasfilm announces new Star Wars projects and Marvel crossover

Lucasfilm has announced several upcoming projects for the Star Wars franchise. In an animated Disney+ special titled ‘LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian’, scheduled for release on September 2, the character Luke Skywalker will appear. Notably, Mark Hamill will not provide the voice for the character in this production, marking a departure from his nearly 50-year association with the role.

Additionally, Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics have announced a limited five-part comic book series titled ‘Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles’. The series will feature iconic Star Wars characters, such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo, alongside Marvel heroes like Spider-Man and Iron Man. The comic is slated for a January 2027 launch as part of celebrations for the 50th anniversary of ‘A New Hope’. Other anniversary festivities include a Welsh redub of the original 1977 film premiering on Christmas Day.
