Lucca Comics & Games 2026 announces guest details and indie comic initiatives

Preparations for Lucca Comics & Games 2026 include specific programming for guest Usamaru Furuya and initiatives supporting independent comics.

Coconino Press has released the regulations for Usamaru Furuya’s signing sessions. The author will be available on October 28, 29, 31, and November 1. The sessions include dedicated sketches and autographs. Access to specific sketch sessions requires the pre-purchase of a ‘LITCHI HIKARI CLUB VARIANT COCONINO’ membership.

Additionally, the ‘Self Area Go’ project, a collaboration between the festival and the Agorà civic library, is hosting events focused on independent comics. An upcoming meeting on October 13 will feature TheSign Academy and representatives from InkCap to discuss the role of specialized schools in training authors and their relationship with self-publishing.

The project also includes an exhibition for the Self Area Prize winner, Veronica ‘Vespertiliu’ Ciancarini, and a conservation initiative. The Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze will begin activities dedicated to preserving self-produced and independent works, ensuring they are included in library collections.
