Lucca Comics & Games 2026 guest and programming updates

Overview

Preparations for the 60th edition of Lucca Comics & Games in 2026 have seen updates regarding guest appearances and programming for independent creators.

Initial guest announcements included the cancellation of manga artist Tōru Fujisawa due to health concerns regarding long-distance travel. However, Star Comics confirmed that Yuu Watase would attend as a guest of honor from October 30 to November 1, 2026.

Subsequent updates detailed specific programming for guest Usamaru Furuya, including signing and sketch sessions organized by Coconino Press. The festival also highlighted the ‘Self Area Go’ project, a collaboration with the Agorà civic library to support independent comics. This initiative includes discussions on specialized training for authors, exhibitions for prize winners, and conservation efforts by the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze to preserve self-produced works.
