Lucca sets Guinness World Record for longest ephemeral art carpet

The historic walls of Lucca have become the site of a new Guinness World Record for the longest carpet of ephemeral art. This achievement surpassed a previous record held by Mexico.

The project, part of the Festival delle Arti Effimere – Guinness Edition Lucca 2026, was a massive collective effort involving thirteen cities across three continents. It brought together hundreds of artists, masters, and volunteers to transform the city walls into a vast open-air canvas.

The Infiorata of Taurianova, representing the Calabria region of Italy, played a central role in this international collaboration. Local representatives noted that the achievement highlights the community's passion and the ability of their local tradition to reach a global stage through international cooperation.
