Lucca aims for Guinness World Record with four-kilometer flower carpet

Lucca is set to host the ‘Festival Arti Effimere Guinness Edition Lucca 2026’ on August 22. The event aims to break the Guinness World Record for the longest flower carpet, currently held by Huamantla, Mexico, with a length of 3,939.53 meters. The organizers plan to create a monumental installation exceeding four kilometers along the city walls.

Curated by the Associazione Tappeti di Segatura di Camaiore and promoted by the Municipality of Lucca, the festival will feature artists using various materials including flower petals, salt, sand, sawdust, and vegetables. The project also serves to support the Italian candidacy for the UNESCO recognition of ‘Ephemeral flower carpet art’. The Infiorata of Taurianova will represent the Calabria region during the event.
