Luciano Carvalho sworn in as Curitiba city councilor
Luciano Carvalho (PP) was sworn in as a city councilor for Curitiba during a plenary session at the Palácio Rio Branco on Monday. Carvalho, who received 3,877 votes in the 2024 elections, assumes the seat as the second substitute for the Progressistas party.
His inauguration follows the removal of Lórens Nogueira from office. The Curitiba City Council voted to revoke Nogueira’s mandate on August 20 due to a breach of decorum involving allegations of “rachadinha”—the practice of officials requiring staff to return portions of their salaries.
In his inaugural speech, Carvalho highlighted his background as a community leader in Moradias Augusta and his academic qualifications in Public Management and Public Policy. He pledged to continue his work for the city, concluding with his signature phrase, “the struggle does not stop.”
