While Nogueira’s defense denies the accusations—claiming certain cash payments were related to a personal loan—the ethics committee has rejected all preliminary arguments from the defense.

On August 20, the Curitiba City Council voted to revoke Nogueira’s mandate due to a breach of decorum. Following his removal, Luciano Carvalho (PP) was sworn in as a city councilor on August 31, assuming the seat as the second substitute for the Progressistas party.
