Bolt and Lucid partner to deploy 25,000 autonomous vehicles in Europe

Bolt and Lucid Group have announced a strategic partnership to develop and deploy autonomous mobility services across Europe. The collaboration aims to introduce at least 25,000 fully autonomous vehicles into major European cities, utilizing Lucid’s upcoming Midsize electric vehicle platform.

The The vehicles are intended to achieve SAE Level 4 autonomous driving capability, allowing them to operate without human intervention under specific conditions. The technical foundation for the fleet will include Nvidia’s Hyperion architecture, which integrates high-performance computing with a standardized sensor suite.

Bolt intends to own and operate the autonomous fleet, taking responsibility for vehicle requirements, software, safety systems, and passenger experience. The company will also develop the necessary infrastructure and establish partnerships with local cities. This initiative is part of Bolt’s broader long-term goal to operate a fleet of 100,000 autonomous vehicles by 2035.

Lucid will manage the partnership through its newly established Lucid Technologies division, focusing on AI, advanced driver assistance systems, and digital technology. While the partnership marks a significant step for both companies, specific deployment dates and the exact software provider for the autonomous driving systems have not yet been disclosed.
