Lucknow faces flash flood risks and waterlogging after heavy rain

Lucknow has experienced significant rainfall and subsequent waterlogging following heavy downpours. On Sunday, a 45-minute spell of rain recorded over 50 mm in areas such as Chinhat and Sitapur Road, leading to inundated residential stretches and key roads.

Waterlogging has caused major traffic disruptions in Gomti Nagar, central Lucknow, and near the Polytechnic crossing. Residents reported knee-deep water in several sectors, with traffic moving slowly through areas like Vibuti Khand.

Authorities have issued alerts as river flows in Lucknow are predicted to reach 2.2 times the normal level. Residents in low-lying areas are advised to remain vigilant due to the heightened risk of flash floods and localized flooding caused by the combination of anticipated rainfall and elevated river discharge.
