Lucknow Municipal Corporation intensifies flood relief and sanitation efforts

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has accelerated relief, cleaning, and drainage operations to restore normalcy in flood-affected areas of the city. Following directives from the state government, intensive work is being carried out in Zone-3 (including Faizullaganj) and Zone-6 to remove waterlogging, clear debris, and prevent mosquito-borne diseases.

To facilitate drainage, 60 pumps are currently in operation, including 48 pumps in Zone-3 and 12 diesel pumps in Zone-6. Additionally, 12 desilting machines are being used to clean drains and remove accumulated silt. Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar inspected areas such as Lohramau and Daudnagar to oversee these efforts and instructed officials to use available resources effectively to clear mud and silt from streets.

To combat health risks, authorities have launched a large-scale anti-larva and fogging campaign. In Zone-3, drones have been deployed to spray anti-larva across approximately 67 acres. The sanitation drive also includes the use of mechanical sweeping machines, battery-operated anti-larva machines, and multiple fogging units to control mosquito breeding in the aftermath of the floods.
