Luegbrücke bridge construction causes traffic restrictions on A13 Brenner Autobahn

Major roadwork on the Luegbrücke, a critical bridge on the A13 Brenner Autobahn in Tyrol, is entering a phase of intensified restrictions. Extensive resurfacing work scheduled for mid-October 2026 will result in single-lane traffic in each direction during specific daytime hours on October 12–15 and October 19–22.

To facilitate these works, nighttime restrictions will be implemented. Trucks over 3.5 tons face driving bans between 21:00 and 05:00 if their destination is only accessible via the Luegbrücke. Other vehicles over 3.5 tons, including buses and caravans, are subject to bans from 22:00 to 05:00 between the Matrei-Steinach and Brenner-Nord junctions. Police will monitor compliance at entry points to Tyrol near Pettnau and Kufstein.

The construction is part of a larger project to build a new bridge alongside the existing 50-year-old structure. ASFINAG reports that the project is currently on schedule, with over 40 bridge supports already concreted. The goal is to complete the first new structural component by the end of 2027, allowing traffic to eventually transition to the new bridge while the old one is decommissioned.
