Lufthansa Group expands Japan network for summer 2027
Lufthansa Group is significantly expanding its service capacity to Japan for the summer 2027 season in response to surging travel demand. The expansion includes the resumption of seasonal direct flights between Frankfurt and Nagoya, operating three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Additionally, Lufthansa will introduce a new daily seasonal service from Frankfurt to Tokyo-Narita starting March 28, 2027. These new routes will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners equipped with the Allegris cabin interior, which features specialized Business, Premium Economy, and Economy configurations.
Other airlines within the group are also increasing their presence. SWISS plans to expand its Japan offering with up to seven weekly flights from Zurich to Tokyo-Narita. Collectively, the group's hub airlines—including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS, and ITA Airways—aim to provide up to 50 weekly flights to four Japanese destinations: Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka, and Nagoya.
