Lufthansa Group to roll out Starlink internet on 850 aircraft by 2029

Lufthansa Group has begun rolling out high-speed Starlink satellite internet across its fleet, starting with its first Airbus A320neo. The airline aims to complete the installation on approximately 850 aircraft by 2029.

According to group communications director Boris Ogursky, the technology will be implemented across all group subsidiaries, including Swiss Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airlines, Lufthansa City, Discover Airlines, and Edelweiss. The service is intended to be free for customers who are members of the group's loyalty program or have a registered travel ID.

In addition to connectivity upgrades, Lufthansa is introducing a new catering concept for economy class passengers on short- and medium-haul flights starting September 1. The airline is also expanding its stopover offerings at Munich Airport, specifically targeting passengers traveling from Asia.
