Lufthansa investigates after 13-year-old left at Munich Airport
Lufthansa is conducting an internal investigation after a 13-year-old Swedish girl was left behind at Munich Airport due to an overbooked flight. The girl, traveling alone following a language course in Austria, was reportedly told by gate staff to step aside and wait for a later flight without being given further information or options.
The child was forced to wait at the airport for approximately seven hours before she could board a flight to Stockholm Arlanda at 10:00 PM. During this time, her parents lost contact with her because her mobile phone battery had died. The girl's mother described the treatment as “completely unacceptable and unreasonable” for an international airline.
A Lufthansa spokesperson issued an apology for the inconvenience and stated that the company will investigate the circumstances of the decision in coordination with the airport and the staff involved.
