Luino approves postal office renovation and urgent municipal funding

Poste Italiane will close the Luino post office on Via d’Ovidio from 29 June while it undergoes a month‑long renovation under the “Polis” project, aimed at turning the branch into a multiservice hub. The work will reorganise interior spaces and add new digital services, enabling citizens to obtain INPS certificates, civil‑status documents and passport applications when the office reopens at the end of July 2026. In the meantime, the nearby Germignaga branch will maintain full service, including a 24‑hour ATM.

The Luino municipal council has approved an urgent budget variation allocating €160 000 for furniture and kitchen equipment for a new nursery, €200 000 for extraordinary maintenance of public buildings and schools, €80 000 for lake‑side park work, €25 000 for existing playground upgrades, €50 000 for new playgrounds in Motte and Colmegna, €30 000 for roadside grass cutting and €15 000 to boost summer tourism activities such as an open‑air cinema. Additional state funding of nearly €3 000 for summer centres was also noted.
