President Abinader inaugurates new Caipi center in Santo Domingo

President Luis Abinader has inaugurated a new Centro de Atención Integral a la Primera Infancia (Caipi) on República de Colombia Avenue in the Distrito Nacional. The facility is designed to provide care and development services for 250 children aged 0 to 5 from vulnerable families.

Built by the Ministry of Education’s School Infrastructure Directorate, the center features 10 specialized classrooms, including two dedicated to infants. The services offered follow a multidisciplinary model encompassing education, early stimulation, health, nutrition, and specialized care for children with disabilities. The center will also assist families with birth registration processes.

Xiomara Guante, executive director of the National Institute for Integral Early Childhood Care (Inaipi), announced a strategic alliance with local businesses. This initiative aims to allow parents working in the surrounding area to access the center’s services, supporting local economic participation by enabling mothers and fathers to work, study, or pursue entrepreneurship with reliable childcare. This new facility brings the total number of such centers in the Distrito Nacional to 64.
