Luis de la Fuente seeks Ballon d'Or recognition for Spain

Spain national football team head coach Luis de la Fuente has expressed his desire to win the Ballon d'Or for coaches, also noting his hope that a Spaniard wins the award for players. De la Fuente is among the four candidates for the Johan Cruyff Trophy following his success in leading Spain to the 2026 FIFA World Cup title, as well as victories in the UEFA Nations League and EURO 2024.

Reflecting on the team's recent achievements, De la Fuente stated that Spanish football deserves more recognition, noting that Rodri became the first Spanish man in 64 years to win the Ballon d'Or in 2024. He emphasized that the current squad has regained the spirit seen during Spain's 2010 World Cup triumph and expressed pride in the national support for the team.

Ahead of a UEFA Nations League match against Croatia, De la Fuente also discussed potential lineup changes to maintain team energy and praised the depth of his 26-man squad.
