Luis de la Fuente extends Spain head coach contract until 2032

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced a long-term contract extension for head coach Luis de la Fuente. The new agreement, unveiled by RFEF President Rafael Louzán at the World Football Summit in Madrid, extends his tenure through 2032, ensuring he remains in charge for the 2030 World Cup, which Spain will co-host with Portugal and Morocco.

The extension follows a highly successful period for the Spanish national team, including titles at the 2023 UEFA Nations League, Euro 2024, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The new deal includes a significant salary increase, reportedly placing De la Fuente among the top ten highest-paid national team coaches globally, with annual earnings estimated between €4 million and €5 million.

In addition to the contract news, De la Fuente has released his first squad list following the World Cup victory for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures. The squad remains largely consistent with the championship-winning group, though it features several new call-ups, including goalkeeper Josep Martínez, defender Dean Huijsen, and forward Roberto Fernández.
