Luis Fabiano launches pre‑candidacy for Brazil federal deputy seat

Former São Paulo striker Luis Fabiano announced his pre‑candidacy for the federal deputy election in São Paulo. The announcement, made via a video on Instagram, emphasizes his intention to promote grassroots sport, active health prevention, job creation and digital inclusion for youth. Fabiano, who retired after a career that included 212 goals for São Paulo and titles in Brazil, Spain and Europe, said he will bring a team‑player mindset to politics and work on policies that benefit young people and local communities.

He confirmed his affiliation with the Movimento Democrático Brasileiro (MDB) and described the move as answering a personal call to address the future of Brazil’s youth beyond the football field. The candidacy is positioned for the upcoming legislative elections, with Fabiano pledging to leverage his sporting experience to influence national decision‑making.
