Luis García Reyes appointed head of Tamaulipas Parks and Biodiversity Commission

Luis García Reyes has been named the new commissioner of the Parks and Biodiversity Commission of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. The appointment was made by Governor Américo Villarreal and the Secretary of Urban Development and Environment, Karl Heinz Becker Hernández, as part of the state government's strategy to strengthen institutions responsible for environmental protection.

García Reyes, a graduate of Tec Victoria, said he will focus on conserving species, protecting natural areas, and expanding environmental education and ecotourism in Tamaulipas. He began his tenure with site visits to locations such as the Tamatán Zoo and the La Pesca turtle sanctuary, and he plans to work with existing staff to continue and improve ongoing projects.

The new commissioner also mentioned political ambitions, expressing interest in running for mayor of Ciudad Victoria under the MORENA party in a future election.
