Luis Roberto returns to broadcasting after cancer treatment

Brazilian sports commentator Luis Roberto is returning to his broadcasting duties at Globo after a four-month hiatus to undergo treatment for cervical cancer. His return is scheduled for Wednesday, the 12th, where he will narrate the match between Flamengo and Cruzeiro for the Libertadores.

During his absence, Roberto underwent an intensive medical regimen consisting of 33 chemotherapy sessions and seven radiotherapy sessions. He noted that while his professional plans originally included covering the 2026 World Cup as the network's lead voice, his current priority is his health and being with his loved ones.

His wife, Jacy Santos, shared an emotional video on social media capturing his departure at the airport, celebrating his recovery and return to the profession he loves.
