Luis Rojas Cabrera charged with murder in Bronx anti-aging death

Luis Rojas Cabrera, 55, has been charged with depraved-indifference murder following the death of 27-year-old Elizabeth Baron during an anti-aging procedure in the Bronx. The charges come after the New York City medical examiner ruled the July 19 death a homicide.

Baron allegedly died from a cardiac gas embolism after Rojas Cabrera, who operated the unlicensed Bereshit Lifestyle Center, mistakenly injected air into her during an NAD+ treatment. Following the injection, Baron suffered cardiac arrest. Rojas Cabrera, who had previously been charged with reckless endangerment and unauthorized practice of a profession, argued that any air found in the heart may have resulted from the manual CPR he performed while waiting for emergency services.

A Brooklyn criminal court set bail at $2 million. Rojas Cabrera’s defense attorney has contested the murder charge, arguing it does not accurately reflect the circumstances of the incident.
