Bogotá authorities capture Tren de Aragua leader Luis Saúl Pérez Nieto
Colombian authorities, in a coordinated operation involving the National Police, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the DEA, have captured Luis Saúl Pérez Nieto, known as ‘Páez’ or ‘Nairobi’, in the Fontibón district of Bogotá.
Pérez Nieto is identified as a major regional leader of the Tren de Aragua gang in Peru and was considered a close associate of Héctor Guerrero Flores, alias ‘Niño Guerrero’. He is accused of orchestrating extortion, international arms trafficking, selective murders, and drug trafficking across strategic corridors in South and Central America.
According to Colombian President Abelardo De la Espriella, Pérez Nieto was also wanted by United States authorities. Following the arrest, officials are evaluating legal procedures, including the possibility of extradition to the United States.
