Luis Wagner Montaño assumes interim Attorney General role in Bolivia

Luis Wagner Montaño has assumed the role of interim Attorney General of Bolivia following the apprehension of the previous Attorney General, Roger Mariaca, and the Santa Cruz Departmental Prosecutor, Alberto Zeballos.

Montaño, a senior prosecutor specializing in organized crime, stated that his appointment is a legal substitution based on his seniority within the Public Ministry. He will serve in this interim capacity until the Plurinational Legislative Assembly conducts elections to appoint a permanent Attorney General.

In conjunction with these leadership changes, Mabel Sandra Andrade Molina has been sworn in as the new Departmental Prosecutor of Santa Cruz. Montaño emphasized that these transitions are part of an effort to restore the institutionality, transparency, and independence of the Public Ministry.
