Luján Pilgrimage: massive security and health operation planned
The 52nd Youth Pilgrimage to Luján is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, 2026. Approximately two million people are expected to participate in the 60-kilometer walk from Liniers to the Basilica of Luján.
The Government of the Province of Buenos Aires has organized an extensive multi-ministerial operation to support the event. This includes deploying mobile hospitals, ambulances, medical personnel, and a mobile shock room. Security measures will involve police, motorcycles, horses, drones, and a helicopter to monitor the route through municipalities such as Morón, Ituzaingó, Merlo, Moreno, and General Rodríguez.
Logistical support includes the installation of 80 chemical toilets, food and hydration stations, and water supply points managed by AySA. Transportation adjustments are in place, with Trenes Argentinos providing reinforced services on the Sarmiento line, including additional frequencies between Moreno and Luján. Traffic restrictions and road closures will be implemented along the pilgrimage route to ensure safety.
