Luka Mesec faces drug use allegations and calls for hair testing

Slovenian MP Luka Mesec is facing public allegations from artist Dušan Smodej regarding cocaine use. While Mesec provided a urine sample to the Institute of Forensic Medicine that returned negative results, critics and political opponents, including NSi MP Aleksander Reberšek, have called for a hair follicle test to provide a longer window of detection.

In response to the controversy, influencer Aleksandar Repić, known as ‘Nepridiprav’, released a video demonstrating how urine tests can be manipulated or bypassed. Repić argued that urine tests are ineffective for long-term verification as they only cover a window of approximately 48 hours. He suggested that hair testing is a more reliable method, as it can detect substance use over several months, noting that hair samples can show traces for up to 90 days depending on length.
