Luka Mezgec prepares for final professional cycling race

Slovenian professional cyclist Luka Mezgec is preparing for his final competitive race this Sunday. Mezgec, known for being the first Slovenian to win a Giro d'Italia stage in 2014, expressed that he feels more nervous about life after racing than the event itself.

Mezgec noted that ongoing lung issues continue to affect his performance, specifically citing a loss of approximately half a liter in lung capacity, which makes climbing difficult. In his final race, he intends to support teammates Primož Roglič and Jakob Omrizel by helping them reach the first climb as far forward as possible.
