Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen exit World Grand Prix in opening round
The opening rounds of the PDC World Grand Prix in Leicester have produced major upsets, including the early exit of defending champion Luke Littler. The 19-year-old world number one lost 2-1 to Luke Woodhouse, despite winning the first set. Littler averaged 82.41 in the unique double-in, double-out format.
Six-time champion Michael van Gerwen also suffered a first-round defeat, falling 2-1 to Ryan Joyce. Van Gerwen struggled with his doubles, recording a finish percentage of only 19%. Joyce will advance to face Danny Noppert.

Jermaine Wattimena also reached the last 16 after defeating Chris Dobey 2-0. The tournament features a total prize pool of £750,000, with the winner set to receive £150,000.
