Lula accuses Flávio Bolsonaro of starting political career with criminal support

During recent media interviews, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva launched a series of attacks against his primary presidential opponent, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro. Lula accused Flávio of beginning his political career at age 21 with the support of organized crime and militias in Rio de Janeiro, asserting that the senator has never held a professional job outside of politics.

Lula also targeted the Bolsonaro family's broader history. He claimed former President Jair Bolsonaro was expelled from the Army after an attempt to blow up a barracks and has lived off his congressional salary for 29 years. Additionally, Lula accused Eduardo Bolsonaro of conspiring against Brazil while being financially supported by banker Daniel Vorcaro for his life in New York. He further alleged, without providing evidence, that the family traveled to Israel to seek ways to prevent an electoral loss.

In response to social media controversies, First Lady Janja Lula da Silva accused the Bolsonaro campaign of distorting the President's comments regarding prostate cancer exams to create false narratives. Meanwhile, presidential candidate Augusto Cury offered a different perspective on Flávio Bolsonaro, suggesting his political stance is closer to the center or even the left rather than the traditional right.
