Lula warns U.S. of potential trade reciprocity amid tariff disputes

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated during a televised interview that the United States should be concerned about ongoing trade tariff disputes. He argued that the U.S. relies more on Brazilian products than Brazil does on American ones, suggesting that Washington may face greater economic impact from the tariffs than Brazil.

Lula expressed optimism about reaching a negotiated agreement with the Trump administration, describing their relationship as “civilized.” However, he warned that if negotiations fail, Brazil is prepared to implement reciprocity measures under its domestic legislation. He noted that while trade with the U.S. has seen a decline, Brazil has successfully expanded commercial ties with nations including China, Germany, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

In a separate domestic development, the Brazilian government signed a decree regulating the legal framework for the electronic games industry. The move aims to transition the country from an exporter of raw materials to a producer of high-tech intelligence and digital products, including provisions for funding, professional training, and intellectual property protection.
